Where there’s a will there’s a way.
I always dreamed of having my own tattoo magazine, to present the tattoo scene in Scandinavia. An esthetically, artistically high quality magazine that people would enjoy reading. 8 years ago, on March 23rd 2011, Z Tattoo appeared for the first time. My dream became reality and for all these years, Z Tattoo has been published in Norway, Sweden and Denmark … and is now also available digitally. As a matter of fact, Z Tattoo is the the only tattoo magazine in Scandinavian, something of which I’m naturally very proud.
It has been 8 amazing years, when I have travelled, met amazing people , taken pictures of and interviewed a lot of marvellous people. My job is my passion and I feel immensely privileged for being able to function as a minor spokesperson for a very large scene, and getting to tell the stories of and behind people’s tattoos.
All this I obviously could not have done without the help of others. I would like to thank some of the people who have been there since the very beginning. Like Frank Rosenkilde, the owner of Danish Tattoo Museum. Frank has been a great help with my articles on Danish tattoo history. He is also chairman of the DTL (Dansk Tatovør Laug), an organization for professional tattoo artists dating back to 1990, currently joining forces with the authorities regarding guidelines, Danish standard and European Union regulations. I would also like to thank Colin Dale, the owner of Skin & Bone in Copenhagen. Colin has extensive knowledge of the body art of ancient cultures, and contributes with articles and interviews on topics going as far back as the Bronze age approximately 2400-800 BC.
Finally I would like to thank all my co-workers at Z Tattoo, all you tattoo artists without whom I would not even have a magazine, my business partners and you, all my amazing readers.
Thank you so very much.
